Last week we went to Tybee Island for vacation and we had a blast. We left on Sunday and came home on Friday. The trip down there was a little trying on all of us, mostly because I was so excited and I didn't want to be in my car seat. I mean Ava and Sable got to roam around the truck, why couldn't I? It's just not fair.
We rented a little cottage about two blocks from the beach, here is a picture of it.
It was just big enough for us and I even got my own room too! That night we went down to the beach to look at the pier and walk around, then we went to eat at Spanky's on the beach. Here are a few pictures of Daddy and I walking around in the water.
The next morning we got up early and headed down to the beach before it got too hot. I loved playing in the sand and trying to out run the waves. This beach trip was definitely better than my last beach adventure, mostly because I felt good and wasn't teething! I actually wanted to get in the water this time and play. We went home before it got too hot to eat lunch and take a nap. That night we went to the Tybee Island Marine Science Center on the beach so that I could go see turtles and my most favorite alligators. Here are some pictures of us looking at the alligators and posing with the big turtle outside.
On Tuesday morning we all got up and went for a bike ride on the beach. It was really neat being able to ride on the beach and almost get close enough to touch the waves. We rode from one end of the beach to the next and back. Then we took Ava and Sable to the dog beach at Fort Pulaski. It wasn't really much of a beach, but they both liked playing in the water. Daddy liked seeing all the bog ships coming from the Savannah port and Mommy liked looking for all the different shells on the beach, me I liked playing in the sand and watching the big waves from the boats. That night we went back to the beach to play in the water after the sun went down, so it wasn't so hot.
On Wednesday we took another bike ride, but at the end of the ride we got off our bikes to play in the water before we went back to the house. We went back to Fort Pulaski, but this time Ava and Sable stayed at home. We wandered around the Fort and Daddy took lots of pictures. After the Fort we headed into Savannah to look around and walk down River Street. Here are a few pictures of our adventures that day.
On Thursday morning we got up and went to Breakfast at the The Breakfast Club, one of Tybee's most famous restaurants and one of Mommy and Daddy's favorite movies. Mommy and Daddy both had the shrimp and grits breakfast, it didn't look too good to me, but they both said it was the best they ever had. After breakfast we headed back to the house to get everything ready for our next adventure that day. We rode our bikes to the Tybee Lighthouse and climbed all 178 stairs to the top. Here are some pictures of our climb.
After the lighthouse adventure, I was getting kind of antsy, so Mommy and Daddy decided we should head to the beach from where we were rather than wait to get back on our side of the island. However they didn't expect the sand to be different on the side of the island we were on, but it was. Mommy and Daddy both had to wind up pushing their bikes a good portion of the way because the sand wasn't packed tight at all and they could barely ride on the sand. After a few minutes of me being very unhappy in my bike seat (hey, I wanted to play in the ocean, what's a kid suppose to do?) they stopped and let me get out. I played in the sand while Daddy swam in the ocean and Mommy walked the edge. I was so tired that when we got back on our bikes to head back to the house I feel asleep in my bike seat, climbing those stairs really took a lot out of me :) That night we went to another famous Tybee restaurant, The Crab Shack. I have to say this was probably one of my favorite places in Tybee because of all of the alligators! I even got to feed an alligator - yay! Here are some pictures of us at The Crab Shack.
On Friday morning we all slept in a little, but we still had time to take one last bike ride down the beach before we packed up and left. When we got done, we played in the ocean one last time and headed back to the house to pack and get ready to head home.
I can't wait to go back to the beach!
Love you, Connor
